InVideo is one of my favorite tools, but that doesn't mean it's perfect.

In fact, it's got some pretty big issues.

One of those is the voiceover feature.

They have one, which is great, but it basically attaches the voiceover to the slide you use it on.

This means once you go to the next slide the voiceover is done.

That's no good.

But don't worry! I'll show you not 1, but 3 ways of fixing this problem in this post.

P.S. - If you want to know why I like InVideo so much read my complete review here, or if you want a 70% discount click here

The Problem

Why is the fact that the voiceover only plays on one slide a problem?

If you're like most people, you probably record your voiceover in a program like Audacity, clean it up, and then import it into InVideo.

This means that if you use their default upload VO feature, your long voiceover will only play on one scene and stop as soon as you go to the next.

That's no good!

Unless you record inside of InVideo or cut up the voiceover into chunks (neither of which I recommend) you'll be left with the problem.

So... how can you use your long VO with multiple slides?

Option 1 - Add the Voiceover as Music

This is the simplest option, but it has its drawbacks also.

Adding your voiceover as a "music track" is simple, easy, and takes almost no time at all.

But the problem is: if you do that, you will no longer have a background music track and that means your audio can get boring and bland.

You can do this if you're in a pinch and don't have time, but I don't recommend this option for most people.

Option 2 - Create the Entire Video in 1 Scene

This option is a bit more complicated and time consuming.

All you have to do is add a voiceover to one slide, make that slide the length of your voiceover, and then add all the text and videos you would use if you were creating new scenes into that scene.

The easiest way to do that is by finding the media you want, dragging it into the workspace, and clicking on "Add Behind."

This adds the videos in the same order you'd want them in and allows you to adjust the timing of each.

You have to be careful though and make sure you add enough videos to fill out the entire timeline. If you don't, InVideo will simply pause the last frame of the video to make it longer.

This is what it should look like when you're done:

The dots you see on the timeline are the starting points of new videos.

A bit complicated, but it does the job.

The simplest way however is:

Option 3 - Use an Outside Tool to Combine Your VO & Music

Simply use a free tool like Audacity to combine your Voiceover and InVideo's music.

Don't worry! It's not complicated and doesn't take a long time.

All you have to do is open up your VO inside of Audacity, choose "speakers" as the source for your recording, start recording, and then play the song inside of InVideo that you want to use.

You'll have to adjust the volume of the song using the normalize feature, but that's quick & easy.

If any of this sounds confusing, please watch the video above. I explain this starting at around 7:14.

This option is the best because:

  • It allows you to create your videos as normal
  • It allows you to add multiple soundtracks to your videos
  • It doesn't take a long time

CAUTION: DO NOT USE the tracks you record with Audacity inside of non-InVideo videosThat would be copyright infringement. Storyblocks provides a license to InVideo & you to use these songs inside of videos create with InVideo. The license does not apply if you use it for a video outside of InVideo.

OK, now go forth and conquer the world with beautiful videos!
